Israel-Iran War Live: Iran fires Fattah-1 hypersonic missiles at Israel; U.S. closes embassy in Jerusalem |
Israel-Iran War Live Updates: U.S. President Donald Trump held a high-level meeting with his national security team to discuss the rapidly escalating conflict in the Middle East, according to sources familiar with the matter, stoking speculation that Washington could be preparing to join Israel’s military offensive against Iran.
In a sign of rising danger, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem announced its closure from Wednesday through Friday due to the deteriorating security situation and in line with Israeli Home Front Command guidance. The embassy and its consular sections in both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will remain shut until June 20, the U.S. State Department confirmed in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday claimed to have fired hypersonic missiles at Israel in its latest retaliatory strike.
State television broadcast a statement from the Guards saying the 11th wave of Operation Honest Promise 3 was executed using Fattah-1 hypersonic missiles. The IRGC also claimed its forces now have “complete control over the skies of the occupied territories.”
The developments mark a sharp intensification of the six-day-long war, which has seen both sides unleash heavy missile salvos and airstrikes in one of the most dangerous flashpoints the region has witnessed in recent years.
